Guess Who's Back...

Yeah, yeah...i've been riddled with spring fever and haven't been posting to this blog recently - but i'm back! Miss me?

So, i've been driving in to work since moving out to Maryland and i've missed the joys of the metro. Finally, the inevitable happened and my car broke down - forcing me back into the throng of commuters..which I didn't mind...at first.

Here's the thing - on my way home from work via metro last night, our train was delayed at Metro Center because a passenger was reported as being "sick" and had to be removed from the station. Mind you - the passenger wasn't sick at our station, but was backing up trains all along the red line.

This morning - same thing - a passenger was "sick" and the orange and blue lines were forced to share the track. What is the deal with passengers getting sick? Never in my 5 years as a metro rider have I ever come across this excuse for delayed trains!

This just in: WMATA issued a press release stating that the sick passenger required emergency medical attention and the trains had to wait until medical personnel arrived on the scene. Ok, so I feel bad about complaining if there was a serious emergency - but shouldn't metro have some kind of plan in place if this happens...you know, like get the passenger off the train? If we can't figure out what to do when a passenger is having a heart attack, what the hell's gonna happen if there's a terrorist attack?
